Janette is a New Zealand trained Physiotherapist of thirty five plus years’ experience, across almost all domains of Physiotherapy, specialising in Neuro-muscular Rehabilitation. Her work roles have been diverse – within the public health system, private practice, non government agency and special school system.  She is passionate about client centred practice that is in context and enables real world participation and outcomes and continues to hold a current Practicing Certificate.

Additionally she has had 12 years plus Rehabilitation Service Management experience – residential and day services, multi-disciplinary teams, multi sites and multiple funding contracts. She has a very good understanding of the Health and Disability sectors and well established linkages and networks.

Between 2008 and 2014 Janette was employed in Service development/ Clinical Specialist roles, responsible for the translation of research and best practice into service delivery and clinical/service leadership, so as to meet sector demand and establish points of difference. These roles have allowed her innovation, big picture thinking and solution focussed problem solving to support strategic planning, design improvement plans for established services and to identify new opportunities and turn these into business as usual services.

In 2014 Janette established Real World Living Ltd in order to ensure the continuation of innovative and flexible Disability Support Services in South Auckland. She became the Managing Director and  has driven the program development and resourcing which have been required to support the growth of multi-contract, multi-site services and numbers of clients served, to date.

Janette has participated in a number of Ministry of Health and ACC service steering groups, mentored PhD students, participated in research initiatives and co-authored Health and Disability related publications over her career to date and is keen to continue that leadership in the changing face of Health & Disability service provision into the future.

Janette is a New Zealander of European/Pakeha descent and has lived and worked within New Zealand for most of her life. She is passionate about New Zealand – the land, it’s animals and it’s people.
